10. Dahmer (2002)
Dahmer is the movie based on American real life serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. During his murder spree, Dahmer used to conduct sadistic experiments on his victims before he murders them. All in all, he killed about 17 men until he was caught. His murders were particularly gruesome, involving rape, torture, dismemberment, necrophilia and cannibalism.
Dahmer himself explained that he was attempting to remove free will from his victims to create an automation and also to fulfill his sexual desires.This psychotic serial killer was beaten to death with a broomstick by a fellow inmate in prison.
9. Evilenko (2004)
This Italian film directed by David Grieco is based on the Russian real life serial killer Andrei Chikatilo. Chikatilo started his “killing career” in 1978 when he lured a 9 year old girl into an old house and attempted to rape her but failed to achieve an erection. When the girl struggled, he stabbed her to death. From that point Chikatilo realised that he is only able to achieve sexual arousal by brutally slashing women and children to death. After police found hard evidence against the killer,he was taken to sound proofed room in prison and executed by a single gunshot behind the right ear.
8. The Boston Strangler (1968)
Albert DeSalvo got his nickname as The Boston Strangler, when he started to rape and strangle women to death. Directedy by Richard fleischer, this film is based on the true story of the serial killer Albert DeSalvo.
DeSalvo’s way of killing was, he used to rape a woman first and then strangle her to death and leave the bodies naked and positioned as if they were posing for erotic photographs. During the killing span from 1962 to 1964 13 single women were murdered around the Boston area. He was sent to prison for life in 1967 and was murdered six years later while in his cell.
7. 10 Rillington Place (1971)
10 Rillington Place dramatises the case of British real life serial killer John Christie who used to commit most of his crimes in his apartment. John Christie, born in Yorkshire in 1898, grew up to be sexually dysfunctional with an inherent dislike of women. He was convicted of murdering at least eight females – including his wife by strangling them in his flat at 10 Rillington Place, Notting Hill, London. Like most of the serial killers, his motives of murders was also sexual. His medical background helps him to invite unsuspecting females to his apartment on the pretense of curing them of some ailment and knock them unconscious with carbon monoxide gas.He then used to gain his sexual releases over the unconscious body and strangle them to death.In 1953, he was accused of murdering his wife, and while in prison he confessed for other murders too. He was hanged till death.
This film is based on the real life of Aileen Wuornos, a Daytona Beach prostitute who became a serial killer. Aileen Wuornos had a traumatic childhoon as her father was imprisoned for the rape of 7 year old girl and her mother abandoned Aileen and her brother leaving them with their maternal grandparents. Later they were adopted by Wuornoses. After her adoptive mother dies, Aileen was homeless with no money of her own, which leads her to enter prostitution. Seven men were killed by her in Florida claiming they tried to rape her while she was working as a prostitute. She was convicted and sentenced to death for those murders and executed via lethal injection in 2002.
This film presents the story of two teenage sweethearts who turned to be a serial killer with no good reason whatsoever. Charlie Starkweather,17 and his 14 years old girlfriend Caril Fugate murdered 10 people in one week in Nebraska. Charles killed a man in convenience store when he refused to sell a gift he wanted to give Caril Ann and next year Charles killed Caril’s parents and two year old sister during the fight. Then the couple stole a car and headed towards Mexico still killing seven people on the way. A year later they were caught and Starkweather was put to death on electric chair while Caril was sentenced lifetime imprisonment.
4.The Helter Skelter Murders (1970)
This film is a mixture of documentary footage and re-enactment scenes, some filmed on the action locations, of the infamous murders committed by the gang known as the Manson family.The Manson Family was formed by Charles Manson. Manson and other so called members of the family are convicted of killing actress Sharon Tate and six other people during a bloody rampage in the Los Angeles area. In 1977 he was sentenced for life imprisonment with the possibility of parole. The septuagenarian has made 11 failed bids for parole since 1978. His next parole hearing is scheduled for 2012.
3. Summer of Sam (1999)
Directed by Spike Lee, this film follows the story of David Richard Berkowitz also known as Son Of Sam and the .44 Caliber Killer. He’s an American real life serial killer and arsonist who terroizes New York City for 2 years in 1976 and 1977 by his crimes. He was arrested on August 1977 where he confessed to killing six people and wounding several others in the course of eight shootings. He subsequesntly claimed that he was commanded to kill by a demon who possessed his nieghbor’s god.
2. Zodiac (2007)
This film is based on The Zodiac killer, a real life serial killer, who operated in Northern california in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The killer’s identity is yet to be discovered. The Zodiac Killer targeted four men and three women between the ages of 16 and 29. The Zodiac Killer coined his names in a series of taunting letters he sent to the press. The letters included four cryptograms, three of which have yet to be solved.

It is a American crime thriller directed by Huges brother and starring Johnny Depp and Heather Graham in main characters. The movie is based on the real life murderer who terrorized the streets of london in 1880s. His birthname is unknown, but in the letter he sent to press he uses the name “Jack The Ripper”. However, there were no evidences to suppose that the letter was actually written by him and the police seem convinced that they were work of a journalist.
