The Dark Knight Rises has finally come out in theatres and Christian Bale has completed his final outing as Batman. A reboot of another Batman Series has already been mooted by studio Warner Brothers, since the Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises was a huge hit and highly appreciated by audiences. So the question is who is the actor suitable for the role of next batman? With Christian Bale supposedly leaving, who will get to don the next Batsuit?
Bale was such a talented individual that it would be near impossible for any actor to follow in the footsteps. Yet, if there had to be someone, I have these five names that are certainly considerable for the role of a philanthropist, billionaire Bruce Wayne and suit-wearing, Crime fighting Batman.
1. Ryan Gosling
The first in the list of 5 actors suitable for the role of next Batman is difinitely Ryan Gosling. Allow me to clarify any confusion here. I am not suggesting the Ryan Gosling of The Notebook or Crazy Stupid Love. Rather, I was talking about the Ryan Gosling of Drive and The Ides of March as well as the side of Gosling in his upcoming films like Gangster Squad and only God Forgives. Gosling has showcased gritty, dark, tough emotions and dramatic, all qualitis fo well rounded Batman. The young Canadian actor is amongst the top talents in Hollywood.
I loved what I saw of the actor in last year’s Drive, and that film alone made me think of him for this list. His cold, calculated and sporadically violent Driver character reminded of some of the Batman’s darker scenes. I have no doubt that Ryan Gosling can pull of superhero or in this case a dark superhero who have to fight crime in order to save his sanity.
2. Michael Fassbender
Michael Fassbender has thrusted himself into the mainstream withi his British Nazi spy in Inglorious Bastards and his tortured turn as Magneto X-Men: First Class in last two years that showcases his greatest acting talent. He has some particular screen presences which are very commading. He made an excellent adversary as Magneto. We saw him go from a vengful and angry young man to a calculating, controlled leader; he expressed darkness, but his fierce dedication related to a childhood trauma. These are some qualities that can be lent and given to the Caped Crusader a.k.a Batman. Should he be given a opportunity to sink his teeth into the role of Batman it would mark the first time he would headline a big budget blockbuster.
With demand for Michael Fassbender on the rise, if Warner Bros did not want to offer Fassbender the chance to be Gotham’s most famous guardain they’d best get in quick because next time a James Bond casting call goes out, he’ll likely be at the top of that list. What I think is, Fassbender would bring the level of acting in superhero films up to a whole new level.
3. Dominic Cooper
Dominic Cooper, don’t mistake him for being bit of an underdog or just because you don’t know him yet. I firmly believe that Mr. Cooper has the chops to pull it off. This dashing British actor, many would level him an unproven talent, is still in the process of making a name for himself. If you don’t believe me you can always watch the movie The Devil’s Double. Thats the movie by which I’ve been sold on Dominic Cooper.
Well, it would surely be a risk to put a new icon in the role, but like I said I’m a big fan and I believe he could do perfect justice to almost any role, including Batman.
4. Jon Hamm
From Mad Men to Bat Man? People who watches Mad Men knows that Don Draper is practically Bruce Wayne already. He’s smooth, he always knows what to say and he tends to get exactly what he wants in the end. His deep voice could be flexed ever so slightly to make a truly menacing Batman voice and he’s got tall, dark and handsome written all over his face. Everybody wanted him as Superman but he’s got a dark side to him that perfectly suits Bats.
Jon Hamm is a credible leading man and has the inner depth and darkness to portray Batan and the charm to pull off Bruce Wayne, so why not cast him already?
5. Mark Wahlberg
I don’t know what people think on this one, but I think Mark Wahlberg can do this if given a chance. We have seen the man play tough, mysterious leads before and his turns in movies like The Departed, Shooter, Max Payne and The Fighter shows that he understnds both the action side and dramatic aspects as well. He also has a good angry stare and very expressive eyebrows. Physicality is not a question with Wahlberg, the actor had an amazing physique for the past twenty years or so.
I can already see him wearing the batsuit and fighting crime. However, I’m little bit reluctant imagining him in the role of Brue Wayne. A little bit help from Warner Bros. and the director, we have our new batman, probably the best ever.
Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan are going to be hard to follow, regardless how many people want to take over from them. But those above are the top 5 actors suitable for the role of next batman(in my opinion entirely). What are your ideas for the next Batman?
